A similar social media trend emerged in 2014. “Yesallwomen” posts also had women talking about their experiences with sexual harassment and sexism. Marya Jansen-Gruber, a 47-year-old book editor in Ashland, Oregon, has spoken to people about her rape in the past, but never on social media, where she also joined the “Me Too” movement.

“I think I’m speaking out now because of the current political climate. Now more than ever people around the world, men in particular, need to see what we women have to deal with. They need to see that there is a problem that must not be denied or hidden,” she said. “I’m raising a daughter who is going to have to deal with many of the same problems that I face. The situation in this world for women is not improving as much, or as fast, as it should.”

Martha Armstrong, 69, in Wilmington, North Carolina, knows that firsthand, speaking out on social media for the first time about a range of assault and harassment spanning decades.

“I was raped by a stranger when I was 20 years of age when I worked and went to college in Atlanta,” she said. “That was almost 49 years ago and, at that time, the advice du jour was ‘Don’t tell anyone!’ But I did. I reported it to the police. In addition to raping me, he also stole my driver’s license, student ID and the cash I had in my wallet. This happened on a Friday. ON YOUR FACEBOOK APPLICATION:

1. Click on the menu button at the top right-hand of your Facebook page
2. Scroll down and click on "Events"

4. On the top of the page, tap on the drop-down button to choose between a "Private" or "Public" event.

For "Private event"

• Fill in the event name, time, location, details, and ticket URL
• Tap on "Co-hosts" to add friends as co-host to the event.
• Tick and untick the two boxes that says "Only admins can post to the event wall" and "Posts must be approved by admin" to suit your preference.
• Hit on "Publish" after you are done.

To create a private or public event:

1. Click on "Events" in the left menu of your News Feed.
2. Click on "Create Event" in the top right.
3. Click to choose between a private or public event. If you're creating a public event, you can set the event's host as yourself or a page you manage. You're not able to change the privacy settings once you've created the event.
4. Fill in the event name, details, location and time. If you're creating a public event, you can:
   • Add multiple dates and times
   • Select a category for your event
   • Add keywords about your event
   • Add a link to a ticketing website for your event
5. Click Create.

A Facebook hoax has been making the rounds causing fears of online stalking.
But the story has been expelled by experts who say that not just is it a hoax but also that the social media site is still as safe as ever.


The myth that has been circulating claims that each user has a hidden list of “followers”. That is to say, people who can see what you post without being accepted as a “friend”.

The rumor is that if a Facebook user goes to their settings section and types in “following me”, the site will reveal a list of ''covert followers''.
Fortunately this is not the truth and it is not the first time the hoax has reared its ugly head and scared social media users.


A user claimed to have uncovered the trick and wrote: “I just learned something new. If you go to account settings, blocking, block users, and type in “following me”, without the quotes, you might be surprised just who is following you. I had a lot people on it that I had no clue who they were. They are blocked now. I had to block them one at a time. Creepy... Most were middle eastern persons and all my posts are to friends, not public.”


But typing ''following me'' into a search bar will simply display a list of other users with “following” or “me” in their names or contact information.
According to Facebook’s Help Center, you go to the right corner and select settings, then click public posts, then select friends or public next to who can follow me to see your genuine followers.
